The First-time Application is meant for students who have never received the Edwards Scholarship. If you applied previously but did not receive the scholarship, you should complete this Application again.
Students submitting the First-time Application for High School Students, should complete the online application and submit the following documents, via our online portal, by May 15. The application portal opens March 1.
- Please upload a narrative addressing the following three areas, not to exceed two pages:
- Please describe your academic work, extracurricular activities, and employment during high school. This can include awards and honors, athletics, employment, volunteer community service, scholarships, or other activities that were a meaningful part of your high school experience. This essay is the way the Trustees get to know you as a student and community member.
- In establishing the Edwards Scholarship, Grace Edwards believed that higher education would result in better citizens and stronger communities. If you were to receive the Edwards Scholarship, how would you “pay it forward” after graduation to help your community become stronger?
- You may address any other areas that might be relevant to your application. Please use this space to explain any special circumstances, such as unemployment, illness, tuition expenses, support paid on behalf of family members (example, grandparents) who are not tax dependents, etc.
- Transcript and Recommendation from your Guidance Counselor. You will be asked to provide the name and email address and we will email your Guidance Counselor on your behalf with a request for your High School transcript and Guidance Recommendation. The Counselor will then submit these documents electronically to us for inclusion with the rest of your material. Your Counselor will not have access to your scholarship application. Please make sure you accurately enter their email address. We recommend you notify them that you have done this as they will automatically be contacted upon submission of your application.
